Campaigns… Dungeon Delving II

Continuing on with our articles about running Dungeon Delving Campaigns with the Fantasy Cards, this time we will go into a little more detail about the Storyline Campaign.

Dungeon delving Storyline Campaigns are pretty much set up in the same campaign format mentioned in the basic rules, with two major differences. The first difference being that one force will not be allowed to change for the duration of the campaign (the Heroes), while the other may change with each battle (the heroes’ Antagonists).  This means that unlike the standard campaign, the Heroes will not be able to spend campaign points between battles to change out units in their force – what they start with is what they finish with. Info… New Army of the Week

This week’s Army of the Week is a US Army Task Force from the Battle of the Bulge in WW II. It has has been cobbled together to try and stem the German’s advance during their last major offensive in late 1944. The force really lends itself to a defensive struggle (e.g. a roadblock or ambush scenario, etc.), but with a little creativity it could also serve pretty well for limited offensive operations too.

Something we get asked a lot about is the possibility of using the Fantasy Cards for  “dungeon delving”. Mind you we are not talking about true role-playing with individual characters and such, but rather the simple joy of following a band of heroic adventurers as they battle non-stop through a classic underground lair of evil. Can this be replicated in an easy and enjoyable fashion with the Fantasy Cards?  The answer is most definitely yes! (more…)
