Its ability to appear just about anywhere on the battlefield, at just about any time, gives it the opportunity to be a decisive factor in any battle. Designer Notes… Special Functions
Tuesday, April 5th, 2011One question that often comes up when folks first look into the Combat Cards is “Do the units have any special functions?”. After all, what makes a Recon Unit different from an Armored Unit? Or a Command unit different from an Infantry Unit?
The simple answer is yes, many units have unique functions in the game that differentiate them from other units. (more…)
Campaigns… Simple Subdivision
Monday, April 4th, 2011One topic that often comes up regarding the Fantasy Cards is whether they can be used to play campaign games. It is usually beneficial to first clarify what exactly is meant by a “campaign game” as there are many possible definitions. The two most commons ones are either a series of normal battles connected by scenarios, victory points, maps, a story line, etc., or a single larger battle that has key parts broken down in to sub-battles.
For the first type of campaign (connected battles), the Fantasy Cards work wonderfully. In fact, instructions on how set-up and run that type of campaign is given in the main rules. For the second type of campaign (the larger battle), the Fantasy Cards may even work better. (more…)
