Campaigns… Dungeon Delving

Something we get asked a lot about is the possibility of using the Fantasy Cards for  “dungeon delving”. Mind you we are not talking about true role-playing with individual characters and such, but rather the simple joy of following a band of heroic adventurers as they battle non-stop through a classic underground lair of evil. Can this be replicated in an easy and enjoyable fashion with the Fantasy Cards?  The answer is most definitely yes! (more…)

Clarifications… Off-Board Units

We got a question about off-board units being able to see and attack one another, so we felt we should better clarify the the Units Not On Battlefield & LOS rule – the only lines of sight off-board units have are to other friendly units of the same type. The rules in the Free Downloads section have also been clarified to better reflect this intent.

Campaigns… Simple Subdivision

One topic that often comes up regarding the Fantasy Cards is whether they can be used to play campaign games. It is usually beneficial to first clarify what exactly is meant by a “campaign game” as there are many possible definitions. The two most commons ones are either a series of normal battles connected by scenarios, victory points, maps, a story line, etc., or a single larger battle that has key parts broken down in to sub-battles.

For the first type of campaign (connected battles), the Fantasy Cards work wonderfully. In fact, instructions on how set-up and run that type of campaign is given in the main rules.  For the second type of campaign (the larger battle), the Fantasy Cards may even work better. (more…)
